Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
When do I need to seek counseling?
There will be times when the burden of personal or psychological issues requires assistance outside of your normal support circle of friends and family. Social House offers counseling services for individuals who are struggling with issues related to family, social and romantic relationships, life transitions, sexuality, grief, stress, sexual assault, PTSD, anxiety, loss of motivation, depression, eating disorders, and substance abuse.
Many people wait until they have had a crisis to seek counseling, and we want to remind people that it is never too early to talk to someone.
Our hope is for people to take care of their mental wellness before it becomes a mental illness. Sometimes, clients need an unbiased and non-judgmental ear to help decipher and deal with life’s stressors.
If you or someone you care about is currently dealing with any of these concerns, or need to seek professional counseling in general, please call (832) 284-7354 for a 10 minute consultation or to set up an appointment.
What can I expect when I start therapy with Social House?
After you’ve scheduled your appointment, we’ll email you a link to our Client Portal where you can complete your digital paperwork. These documents will ask you basic demographic questions, introduce you to the therapist’s policies, get your consent for us to work together, and to add payment method information.
If you are using insurance to pay for your session, please add that information to your paperwork in the portal. We prefer you take a picture of the front and back of your card and upload it to your profile, but you’re also welcome to text or email those images. This is to confirm that your insurance plan will help pay for your session.
If your child is being seen and you are divorced, it is necessary to have a copy of the entire divorce decree on file.
Individual psychotherapy sessions typically last between 45 and 50 minutes. If your child is being seen, and this is their first appointment, we’d like to meet with you for about 5-10 minutes before their session.
Prior to your appointment, you may find it helpful to write down any questions you would like to ask your provider during your counseling session. Writing them down before your appointment might work better for you, because people tend to be more relaxed when they’re not on camera and can remember questions more easily.
Do you have a brick-and-mortar/physical office I can visit?
Not yet, but plans are in the works for us to open a physical office in 2021!
At this time, Social House Wellness Center is providing teletherapy only. This is useful because it allows us to serve more clients in the state of Texas, and not just in Houston/Katy or San Antonio. Plus, many clients feel like they can be more open and feel more safe participating in treatment from their own space. Wherever you happen to be, we’re willing to (digitally and soon physically) meet you where you are.

Are after-hours or emergency services available?
In case of a life threatening emergency, call 911. Social House can not guarantee that a counselor will be available at all times. However, if your concern is not life-threatening but perhaps urgent, you are still welcome to call or text our main office number (832) 284-7354 and Jay will point you in the right direction.

***If you are having urgent suicidal or homicidal thoughts, please have a friend or family member transport you to your nearest behavioral hospital or hospital emergency room.***
What are my payment options?
At Social House, we want to be sure our providers and clients are on the same page regarding session charges and payment requirements in exchange for psychotherapy services rendered.
- Monique does not accept insurance and sees clients who are private pay. Your first session with Monique will be $185, and follow-up appointments of 45 mins will be $165 per session.
- Adam accepts both clients that are insured and clients who choose private pay. Without insurance, initial appointments with Adam will be $185; follow-up appointments will be $165 per session. As insurance plans, co-payments and co-insurance amounts vary, you’re welcome to reach out to us and your plan to confirm.
Do you accept insurance?
Adam Rahman currently accepts patients with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Cigna, United Health Care (Optum/UMR), and some Aetna plans.
Please Note: We will verify insurance coverage as a courtesy. Please remember that it is your responsibility to verify insurance before scheduling an appointment with one of our providers.
In some cases, we are happy to provide what’s called a “superbill” for clients to submit to their insurance company for reimbursement for certain out-of-network plans.
Some clients choose not to pay through insurance for several reasons. Often, insurance providers require information regarding client diagnosis and treatment. Many clients do not feel they meet clinical diagnostic criteria or prefer to keep this information more private, and we respect that choice. Sliding pay scales may be available on a limited basis for individual private pay clients who meet the necessary financial criteria. Whichever payment option works the best for you, rest assured that your interests will be protected. We truly believe therapy is for everybody, and your personal success is our utmost priority.
What if I schedule an appointment and later change my mind?
The human mind can be tricky, and the negative feelings that prompted you to make an appointment with Social House may have eased up a bit. That’s great news! The less-great news is that they’re still going to be there later. Over time, the same issues that you’ve struggled with will probably present again until you have made some positive changes in your life. It is very normal to have anxieties about meeting someone for the first time and sharing with them vulnerable information that you may never have said aloud before. Our providers work hard to ensure you feel comfortable for each session, especially if it is your first time.
If you unavoidably need to miss a therapy session appointment for health or travel reasons, we ask that you please call or text (832) 284-7354 and cancel as soon as possible. There is a cancellation fee for missed appointments with less than 24 hours notice.
